Tips For Great Portraits

Tips for Great Portraits

  1. Get inspired

Before your shoot, we sit down together to discuss ideas and the types of images that reflect your personality and style. You can bring examples of photos you like, or if you’re looking for inspiration, I can suggest a variety of styles and techniques to achieve your perfect look.

  1. Dress for success

Clothing choice is so important – it can be the difference between good photos and amazing photos. When we meet before your shoot, I discuss clothing options with you and recommend ways to ensure your images are stylish without risking becoming dated in years to come.

I recommend investing in professional hair and make up. When you feel your best you also look your best.

  1. Location, location, location

Think about the look you’re going for. Is it natural and carefree, or carefully styled? Do you prefer a gritty urban background, natural scenery, or iconic landmarks? Bear in mind that outdoor shoots are often weather-dependent, so it’s good to have a backup plan in place. I’m happy to shoot at your chosen location in the greater Sydney area, or I can recommend locations to help you achieve your desired effect.

  1. Relax

Many people are camera-shy, and it’s normal to feel nervous at first. But don’t worry – I allow plenty of time for all shoots, and provide direction so you can relax and feel comfortable being yourself.
